Annie Sloan 25 Project

By Laura Nicely, Showroom Manager

We have had a strong partnership with Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan and this is another reason to add to the list of why we like Annie and her products. To celebrate 25 years of Chalk Paint®, Annie Sloan is transforming 25 communal spaces worldwide, nominated by customers.

Annie is a strong supporter of small independent businesses (you won’t find her paint anywhere else) and local communities.  The #25Project promotion is showing a more philanthropic side of her commitment to community involvement.

This is a great opportunity to support a Colorado organization that you are affiliated with who would benefit from a makeover of their space.  Think schools, youth clubs, community centers, etc.  Annie will reward 25 deserving spaces that have the most potential for transformation.

You can submit your nomination at  To increase the chance of being chosen, include a quality picture of the space plus craft a well thought out explanation as to why the space needs updating.  If chosen, brushes, tools, expertise and of course paint will be supplied!  This is more than wall paint, Chalk Paint® can be used for furniture, fabric, floors and more.

Nominations will be accepted now through the end of April. In early May, Annie will announce the winners via blog post, social media and email. Transformations will begin later that month!

If anyone needs help finding a space to nominate or needs assistance filling out the application, we would love to help so please feel free to contact me.

'ReGrowth, at re-for your home's April 3 First Friday event

By Jean Nicholson, co-owner, re-for your home

We're excited to invite you to ReGrowth, an art show and opening at our store during the River North Art Districts First Friday ( on April 3, 6-9 p.m.

ReGrowth features the work of Brett Matarazzo of Tarazzo Vintage Original (, showcasing his vintage, reworked and custom furniture and non-traditional dimensional hanging art.

On April 3, meet Brett, see his work and enjoy a little libation.

We first met Brett when he dropped by the store one day. Because his approach to furniture making and art meshes well with our mission of re-sale, re-imagine, re-upholster and re-design, we’re proud to carry his pieces.

Brett is a Colorado native who graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in design. Early in his career, he worked in marketing agencies, and that graphic and photographic approach to design influences his furniture making and art.

A love of Colorado and a personal passion for preserving its beauty is what drew Brett to “use the discarded and repurpose it into something new and beautiful,” he says. Brett’s mixed-media style consists of design, photography, paint and digital heat transfer.

“My work is an exploration and commentary on over consumption and the environmental impact from it,” Brett says. For the past 17 years, he has developed a style for fine art and design that is uniquely vintage, environmentally conscious and inspired, but with modern and functional soul.

Brett first began reclaiming and recycling discarded items when homeowners in his up-and-coming neighborhood started scraping their lots and building new. Trolling his hood and dumpster diving provided ample resources, although now word-of-mouth is where he gets most of his material.

Reclaiming even extended to Bretts personal life. While Brett and his date were dressed up and and on their way to a wedding, he spotted some beautiful white cedar planks thrown out of an old Victorian home. Not only did his date not mind that he stopped and gathered the planks, she helped load it into his vehicle. Shes now his wife!

We hope to see you at First Friday April 3. If you cant make the show, stop by the store and see Bretts great work, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m-6 p.m.

It's a destination

One of best parts of building the business over the last year has been to watch all that is happening in the River North neighborhood.  What started out as an art district has become so much more.  Now when you come to shop at re-for your home, you have an ever growing list of shops and restaurants plus special events, all within close proximity.  Make it a destination.

Just across our parking lot you find Mile Hi Winery and Stem Ciders with their amazing wines and hard cider.  Just a few blocks away at the corner of 24th and Larimer are five restaurants to choose from--Amerigo, Sugarmill, Los Chingones, Work and Class, and Cart Driver.  And of course the indoor market that is The Source is not too be missed.  And every Saturday and Final Friday, the Big Wonderful hosts its eclectic outdoor food and flea market.

And this is just a sampling of what is in the neighborhood.  Click here for the RiNo site and a listing restaurants, art galleries, tap rooms and more.  Come on down and make a day of it!  You won't be sorry.

A year passes quickly

Wow, what a crazy first year for re-for your home.  We can't believe how quickly it passed and how fortunate we are to have such amazing customers.  From our grand opening last May through the expansion of the showroom and even the crazy monsoons in September that closed us down for a couple of days, we still are having a blast serving all of you.

The rewards have been great.  Our customers voted us not only the best Consignment Store in 5280 Magazine's annual Top of the Town awards, but also best Home Furnishings Store.  We are humbled and proud to achieve that in our first year.  Thank you!

We also have been fortunate to grow our team with Aurora Hels, our amazing seamstress, and Laura Nicely, our Showroom Manager and Annie Sloan expert.

Speaking of Annie Sloan, that is our latest endeavor.  We were thrilled to be awarded a stockist territory for Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan.  This easy to use and versatile paint is enabling us not only to share it with Denver, but also to continue to rescue some treasures and reimagine them.  It is such a great fit for the store.  Click on the navigation link to learn more about our workshops and products.

It seems appropriate to now start adding this blog to our website.  Here we will be sharing news about events, new inventory and tips on using Chalk Paint®.
